I could answer yes, and yet not do so when it came down to it.
I could answer no, and yet do so when it came down to it.
Much like the parable of the son who said he would not, and then did.
BA- I believe I would die for my beliefs.
PS- I know I would die for my children,

The point (chart) tetra brings up is a good one, about how big of a business marijuana is from the standpoint of the so-called "justice" sytem.
I firmly believe that is exactly why marijuana will not be legalized- all those jobs (lawyers, cops, judges, dea, fbi, prison guards, etc) would be hit hard. The unemployment rate would rise, and they'd blame it all on legalizing pot!
BA- My two pence

I'd say the problem comes from being taught that phony "english" accent the Londoners speak.
Now that you're in the USA, I think it will take some time to learn the "proper" American pronunciation of words.
I know many people I've worked with in the past that were from parts of the UK, and there was still a language barrier- if they spoke as they normally would, we couldn't understand what they said, and vice-versa. Slowing down the conversation, and annunciating more clearly always worked, but at the expense of getting a move on.
So, I think it will simply take time. Be patient, bend your ear, and hang in there is the best advice I have. And perhaps watch more American TV with the close captioning turned on. That might help as well.
BA- Good luck!

This seems like such a fun holiday - what is it really about?
The "official" version:
http://www.irishabroad.com/stpatrick/
The "traditional" version:
St. Patrick's Day - March 17
The patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick drove the snakes out of the Emerald Isle, and banished all vestiges of sobriety from the rest of the Western World.
Patrick spread the Christian faith in the British Isles, and now spreads good cheer on March 17th...the day he died in 460 A.D.
On this very secular religious holiday, Irishmen of all ethnicities celebrate by consuming vast quantities of Guinness, Harp, and anything else in a glass or bottle. It is said that even NASCAR bars serve green beer on St. Patrick's Day.
BA- Celebrates the "traditional" way.

What is your idea of worship?
by journey-on inwhen i was a jw, my idea of worshipping god was to put in at least 10+ hrs.
in fs monthly, attend 5 mtgs per wk, study for those meetings, make back calls (or what is now called rv's), conduct bible studies, have a family study once a week, pioneer when able, go to all the assemblies, etc.
what, if anything, do you consider worship?.

To live a life that shows I appreciate life.
To treat others with love, just as I want to be treated.
To have faith in the creator.
To appreciate His creation.
To hope in his promise.
To remember his sacrifice and commemorate it.
To give to those in need
To forgive others as He forgives us.
BA- That is how I worship.

Here's one of my favorite cocktails:
Dubonnet Cocktail:
1/2 portion Dubonnet rouge french vermouth
1/2 portion good Gin (Tangueray, etc)
Serve neat or on the rocks, depending on the weather and your taste.
Very nice, complex combination of flavors on the palate.
BA- Some recipes add a twist of lemon and a drop or two of Angostura Bitters, but it's better without, imo.
